Hello brothers and sisters in Christ! Perhaps the most fundamental root (or belief) of our Christian faith is LOVE. Jesus is our Messiah, and He taught us that the greatest commandment is to love God and to love others (Mt. 22:37). There are many dimensions to this love…and we each have different gifts to use in expressing our love.

I have learned that an essential element of love for God is expression of obedience to His commands (1 Jn. 5:3). And it turns out, John did not invent this concept…rather, it comes straight out of Dt. 6 (quoted by Jesus in Mt. 22:37).

Dt. 6 states that we should love God with ALL our heart, soul, and strength (Dt. 6:4-5). Jesus called this the GREATEST commandment.

And in context, we find that this love for God (in Dt. 6) is properly expressed through obedience to ALL God’s commands in the Torah (Dt. 6:25). John evidently agrees (1 Jn. 5:3).

But now we have a problem to discuss! Many of our beloved Christian brethren (perhaps unintentionally) disregard and disobey elements of the very Torah which should be obeyed (according to Dt. 6 quoted by Jesus in Mt. 22:37).

What can we do to encourage others to obey ALL presently observable Torah portions as a true and faithful expression of our love for God as commanded by Jesus?

Friendly greetings! As a Biblical Theist I here publicly profess faith in Jesus our Messiah, and I appreciate the Protestant Reformation against Catholicism...but the Five Solas are (in my opinion) a good way to expose some problems we Christians must address:
1. Protestants profess Sola Scriptura (yet they routinely IGNORE elements of the Old Testament which Jesus and the disciples obeyed and taught….e.g., Lev. 11).
2. Protestants profess Sola Fide (yet Jas. 2:24 plainly exposes the error of emphasis on FAITH ALONE).
3. Protestants profess Sola Gratia (yet Ex. 33:13 plainly confirms the proper response to saving grace is to seek to obey God’s WAYS…yet Protestants routinely disobey and oppose some of those very ways…e.g., Lev. 11).
4. Protestants profess Solus Christus, but they disregard and oppose some basic teachings (e.g., Lev. 11) of that very Christ.
5. Protestants profess Soli Deo Gloria, but glorification of God is NOT the only Biblical objective pertaining to “glory”…(see Rom. 2:10; 8:30; Ps. 8:5; Eph. 5:27; Is. 62:2).

CONCLUSION: The Protestant Reformation was a good move in the right direction…but we need MORE reformation so as to return to truly authentic Biblical faith and practice.
Well ok…what do you all think?
blessings…
