Representatives from Orsted plus Eversource responded this full week to community concerns around the location of the strength line and its impacts with their community — both upon land and at seaside.

 

John Case, the overseer of permitting at Eversource Vigor, said the power cable television would come on-shore while in the parking area of Cruz Point Park and run under the William Floyd Parkway to a power substation in Holbrook.

 

"When we’re considering routes for our on-shore cables, we take a look at a large number of criteria from technical feasibility, along with human, social impacts, as well as environmental impacts, and we make an effort to balance all of these, " Case said.

 

The developers said they may be working with the city of Brookhaven, Suffolk County and state officials to create a 20-year package of benefits with the residents to offset site visitors and construction impacts.

 

They said additionally , they look to bring additional economic benefits to some other towns by sourcing community materials, employing Long Isle contractors, and hiring nearby union labor for engineering.

 

Mike Evans, the allowing manager at Orsted, said the plans for any Sunrise Wind project to be found 30 miles east associated with Montauk point were evaluated by the federal government.

 

Evans said their program mitigates environmental impacts plus protects marine life.
