MORAL DOMINION

“Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – ROMANS 6:9-11 KJV

Co-Eternal Life, was the life which Jesus Christ exhibited on the human plane, and it is the same life, not a copy of it, which was manifested in our mortal flesh when we are born of GOD! The energy and the power which was manifested in us by sheer sovereign grace of GOD, when once we have made the moral decision about sin.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” – not power as a gift from the Holy Ghost; the power is the Holy Ghost, not something which he imparts. The life that was in Jesus has made ours by means of His Cross, when once we made the decision to be identified with Him. If it is difficult to get right with GOD, it is because we will not decide definitely about sin. Immediately we do decide the full life of GOD comes in. Jesus came to give us endless supplies of like: knowledge that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of GOD.”

Eternal life has nothing to do with Time; it is the life which Jesus lived when He was down here. The ONLY source of life, is, the LORD Jesus Christ! The weakest saint can experience the power of Deity of the Son of GOD, if once “he is willing to let go”. Any strand of our own energy will blur the life of Jesus. We have to keep letting go – and slowly but surely, the great life of GOD will invade is in every part and men will take knowledge of us that we have been with Jesus.

CHRISTIAN DEVOTION

“And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” – MARK 4:9 KJV

If contempt of the world and heavenly affection is necessary temper of a Christian, it is necessary that this temper appear in the whole course of their lives; to their manner of using the world – because it has now place anywhere else.

If self-denial is a condition of salvation, all that would be saved must make it a part of their ordinary life. If humility be a Christian duty, then the common life of a Christian is to be a constant course if humility in all its kinds. If poverty of spirit is necessary, it must be the spirit and temper of every lives of our lives. If we are to relieve the naked, the sick and the prisoner, it must be the common clarity of our lives, as far as we can render ourselves able to perform it. If we are to love our enemies, we must make our common life a visible exercise and demonstration of the true love. If content and thankfulness… if the patient bearing of evil be duties go GOD, they are the duties of every day and every circumstance of our life. If we are to be wise and holy as the new born sons of GOD, we can no otherwise be so – but by renouncing everything that is foolish and vain in every part of our common life. If we are to be n Jesus Christ as creatures, we must show that we are so by having new ways of living in the world. If we are to follow Christ Jesus, it must be in our common way of spending time with Him, every day – William Law (1686-1781)

THERE IS A RIVER

“There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.” --PSALM 46:4 KJV

Ralph Erskine, a Scottish preacher in the 1700s reckoned that the river in PSALM 46”19, is a picture of GOD Himself – as it is GOD alone who makes His people glad.

GOD the Father is a river in JEREMIAH 2:13; he is called the fountain of living waters who quenched the thirst or our spiritual longing hearts.

GOD the Son, is a river in ZECHARIAH 13; it talks about the fountain that cleanses from sin, and Jesus Himself is the water of life. He promised, the Samaritan woman (sitting by the well), that this is the Living Water of eternal life. (JOHN 4:1

GOD the Spirit is a river, for Jesus said: “HE WHO BELIEVES IN ME, AS THE SCRIPTURE HAS SAID, OUT OF HIS HEART WILL FLOW RIVERS OF LIVING WATER.” And the next verse explains: “That GOD spoke concerning the Spirit.” (JOHN 7:38-39)

We can’t find happiness in life by looking for it. Happiness sought for its own sake… is self-defeating. It’s ultimately a by-product of knowing Our LORD – for there is a rive whose streams make glad the City of GOD.

Though for The Day:
Take heed of forming plans of happiness, as though it lay in the things of this world; which will soon pass away. – Matthew Henry
