I am seeing tons of posts and news stories about Ted Cruz and his trip to Cancun. Here is the thing. He is a US Senator. And while he is from Texas, he is NOT a member of the State Government. Nor is he a member of ERCOT or the energy board. He has exactly ZERO responsibility or power over the state's electric grid or how any of this was handled. His power and responsibilities lie in DC, in the Senate, which is NOT in session right now. In other words, while he is a politician, he has nothing to do with the way our state is run. So having a fit about where Ted went during the ice storm is like throwing a fit because your OB/GYN went out of town when your appendix was rupturing. If you want to actually do some good, then direct your frustration to the politicians who actually are responsible for the failures.
