Well folks, if anybody is reading this, I've been using this site for months now but not getting much, if any, feedback. So maybe I just need to move on to something else
Happy Birthday to my Uncle Mel! He just turned a young 98. Stationed at Pearl Harbor the day of the attack, he and his ship were out of port when the attack happened. The enemy Admiral didn't follow the attack plan, leaving all the fuel oil tanks undisturbed as well as the repair facilities. Mel's destroyer was able to fuel up and go right back out to sea. Sixteen days later his hand written note arrived at his folks, letting them know he was alive. A few months later, Uncle Mel took leave and the family traveled to California to see him. They loved the place and moved! More than once Mel would transfer off a ship and shortly afterwards that ship would be sunk. Glad he made to age 98! And...you can see my very young mom at the bottom left of the 1942 picture. Oh, I almost forget something important. My mom has been praying for Mel's salvation for years. In 2018, I sat at a kitchen table and watched mom and Mel talk, and then he accepted Christ. Mom was pretty dog gone happy. To add some real zest to the story, Commander Fuchida of Japan led the attack on Pearl Harbor and he too accepted Christ as his Savior under the witness of one of Doolittle's Raiders. Both men will see each other in eternity. God is good.
