What if I told you that Police, especially militarized ones, were unconstitutional...?
What if I told you that the founders and framers, by their own writings, would have considered any Police force a standing army of the government. Any standing army is the right hand of tyrants...
This excepts Sheriffs and other ELECTED officers of the law. Remember that police chiefs are hired by the municipality, not elected. They are not beholden to anyone but those who hire them. Neither are the officers who serve under them.
The courts have declared Police do not have to protect and serve anyone but "the public at large". And to protect individuals is done at the individual officers decision and his/her peril.
The weapons an officer carries are not for your protection, they are for the officer's.
Add that their only standing order is to "get home safe" at the end of their shift, and you have a recipe for disaster, especially when the rank and file are ex military, with no psych training and probably PTSD.
