I am in a small town in Georgia, having relocated from the overcrowded metropolis of Atlanta almost 5 years ago. Like the rest of you, I watch with amazement and horror all the stuff going on in our country. One thing of many is I have discovered just how strong and weak my faith is. I am also coming to the realization that I have not developed it to the extent that it should be. In essence, I have become complacent. No more room for that (aren't you glad God is longsuffering?).
Along with other men in my church, I counsel men caught up in alcohol, drug abuse-substance abuse addiction. Of the many things they hear from us on a daily basis is that their only hope (and everyone's) is Jesus Christ; as His life in them is paramount to their freedom. Nothing will change in our society until the heart of man changes.
In the 1990s Ravi Zacharias authored a book titled CAN MAN LIVE WITHOUT GOD? I think we are painfully discovering that he (we) cannot; and all this unrest today (and all the yesterdays) is the result of our shoving God out of our lives and our society. Is the church compliscent? Maybe, or maybe we have not been paying attention.
Let us repent of complacency and cry out to God for forgiveness, healing, and for courage to be the men and women of Salt and Light that we are called to be, whatever that may look like on an individual basis.
