It has been a tough week, month, and year, on so many levels, and with the contentious election, so many of us are feeling some anxiety about what the future may hold, and many of us are asking the question, what’s next? To be honest, while I myself am not sure what God is doing, one thing for certain is that there is a massive, ongoing battle between good and evil happening behind the scenes, and despite the battle, God is in control, and somehow, someway, and at some point, good will indeed prevail over evil. Knowing that God is sovereign and that good will prevail, provides me with a sense of peace, and rather than feeling anxious I am making the conscious decision to trust God with the outcome of the election, whatever that may be, and to cast my anxiety on Jesus as 1 Peter 5:7 commands.
I also realize, and as Ephesians 2 tells us, that I am just a visitor here in this world, and my real citizenship is in heaven, and if you are a believer that stands firmly on the side of God, so is yours. The world is going to do what it wants to do, and as citizens in heaven, we need to keep our eyes on God. Finally, we should not act as people who have no hope, as our hope is in Jesus, and during this time, and instead of furthering the division here in this country, we need to be thankful, as hard as that may be right now, as we still live in a country that allows us to choose our leaders. We also need to love and be gracious to others as Jesus taught us, and if there was ever a time for us to put our lamps on the lampstand as it is commanded in Matthew 5:15, this is that time as the world suddenly seems to be an even darker place. So, shine your light so others can see it and be drawn to our Father who is in heaven.
And while God is in control, this does not mean we should stand back and do nothing. As believers, we have the responsibility to stand up for the truth and to fight for what is right, and we also need to pray for our country, our leaders, for each other, and against Satan, because he is pulling out all the stops to destroy souls, as well as our freedoms, our faith, and our country, which is the last bastion of true freedom here on earth.

I love baseball, kayaking, the great outdoors, music, playing the drums, writing, music, writing, exercising, and preaching and teaching God's Word. While I am currently a non-denominational pastor, I am beginning to serve in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Denomination and hope to be ordained one day with the EPC. Most of all, I love the Lord and being a husband to my wife and a father to my children, as well as being the best friend I can be to others.
