Once upon a time I was a birth doula and childbirth educator and all was amazing. The majority of my clients experienced unmedicated birth.

Then I realized that unmedicated birth is the worst goal ever.

You see women - in many cases - desire natural and unhindered birth. They go along planning their perfect for them birth all the while being told they’re not doing what they’ve been told to do. Many are yelled at and even experience a type of intervention.

They are essentially gang raped by other women who didn’t get to experience a natural and unhindered birth until they give in and follow the crowd. It’s just easier to follow the crowd. After all, it will be okay because having a healthy mother and a healthy baby is the best any of us can do, right?

I mean women have a life altering experience whether it’s natural and unhindered or not so what’s the big deal?

The big deal is that while the experience one has in the man-made baby delivery system is a life altering experience, it is not the life altering experience women are designed to have. It’s the life altering experience someone else designed for them to have and it’s harming all of our relationships. It’s harming humanity.

Women come out of the experience planned by others scarred and beaten down and knowing deep inside that something went wrong. Yet are told they achieved their goal....”an unmedicated birth! A healthy mother and healthy baby!”

Until we recognize the WHOLE person in this process, our society will continue to suffer the effects of what happens to humans from conception. And make no mistake about it....hiring a midwife doesn’t magically remove you from an experience planned by others. The more births the midwife has on her calendar the same month you’re baby is due, the more likely you are to have a life altering experience planned by someone else.

Is that really the best we can do?

I’m on a mission to educate and inspire women to listen, trust, and surrender to your own inner wisdom. I’m here to stand up for you and with you. I’m here to take you by the hand and lift you up out of the muck that was left behind by what someone else planned for you. I’m here to cry with you, yell with you, laugh with you and cheer you on as you rise.
