I did not ask for a stimulus. I was not affected by the virus. I never even filled out an application to show that I had a need for a stimulus. The government, took our money, which is public debt, and threw it at us with out even asking. Some of us were really affected, not so much by the virus but by the politicians behaviors in closing things down. We now have data to compare between places that caused hardships and those that did not. So some people really needed help. Anyway, since our elected leaders refuse to act in an adult, fiscally responsible way each of us now owes about $84,000 to the national debt. Bad enough but they just keep going with the reckless spending. Now adding a tax increase that will lower GDP. When GDP grows tax receipts naturally grow. Instead of doing the hard work of growing the economy and GDP they run right for raising taxes and shrinking the economy. Plus money like any commodity loses value when there is more of it, when money loses value they call it inflation. To slow inflation they raise interest rates. Now if they raise interest rates the cost of servicing the 27 trillion dollar debt will grow and the interest is already becoming the largest budget item in the budget. Why are we so stupid to elect these same people year after year. We need some adults representing us. People who follow best practices, people who know how to create and keep a budget. https://www.pgpf.org/
