When President Joe Biden took office, he asked that people give him a break. I think most people have done that—I have. But 275 sheriffs from 39 states felt they could wait no longer to urge President Biden to take action to secure our southern border. They all signed a letter drafted by Sheriff Thomas Hodgson who wrote, “You must act now before our nation’s public safety resources are overwhelmed with the criminal side effects of unchecked illegal immigration, including transnational gangs, guns, dangerous drugs and human trafficking…Both the Barack Obama and Donald Trump administrations recognized the threats and dangers presented by illegal immigration. It is critically important that you see it as well.” I appreciate the boldness of this group of law enforcement leaders—they are right. Let’s pray together that President Biden will heed this warning, and that God would give him wisdom and strength to do the right thing and find solutions to this crisis quickly.
