Satan Is At the Threshold
So, Cain became extremely angry… And the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you so angry… If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well [but ignore My instruction], sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you [to overpower you], but you must master it.”
Genesis 4:5-7 (AMP)
Where are your spiritual wars won or lost? It is at the threshold of our mind where we win or lose. Our thoughts tell our past, present, and future, for as a man thinks in his heart, so he is! We need the strength of the Lord to turn the battle at the gate of our minds.
Cain was a man who thought long and was wrong! He could not accept the Lord’s instruction to make things right. Cain became annoyed and very angry because God spurned his offering and yet received His brother’s. If he had followed God’s instruction, destruction would not have followed him. But because he let his anger grow instead of shutting it down, he ended up killing Abel; cursed to wander his life away in the Land of Nod.
God gave Cain much grace to do the right thing. He refused, and sin crouched at his doorway. All sin battles start at the threshold of your mind. It is at the beginning of an argument or any tempting thing that you can overcome sin. You can master a kitten, but a lion will pounce on you! You choose to cross over into further ungodliness or step back from it.
Anger like lust grows, so deal with it quickly. Let go of it, get cleansed of it, and never let the sun go down on it. If you do, the devil gets his foot in the door of your mind. Once he has a foothold, he is coming not only for your mind but your emotions and your will too. He is the forever loser and will make you one too.
