Somehow, Blizzard has changed up Plague's stats a bit. Plague's order has changed to Cham + Shael + U, not only a huge cost, but an exciting new way to use the under-utilized Cham rune. The Plague that's been updated Plague reads like some strange prototype that has a very specific use case. Everyone's trying to figure why you should play Plague over something similar to Hoto and even more powerful melee weapon such as Grief, as well as Breath of the Dying.

The main change is that Plague has now 3 socketed swords instead of the general weapons. A further change is -1 to All Skills, and the removal of +strength since Fal has been removed from the game. Damage has been increased, which is a big benefit to raw damage. The other stats are basically the same.

Plague was strange at the beginning, but it also had its uses, possibly for casters. YouTuber Drunski125 points out that Plague's use being limited to buy d2r items swords alone is not the best idea.
