From Honolulu, Hanauma Bay is a short drive away. Driving directions to Hanauma Bay: Leave Waikiki and continue on the H1 Freeway until it changes to the Kalanianaole Highway. The entrance to Hanauma Bay can be found on top of the hill immediately after Hawaii Kai after driving for about 10 kilometres. Despite being very large, the parking lot nevertheless fills up rapidly.

Pre-purchased tickets for Hanauma Bay must be made conveniently online by 7am on the day you intend to travel.

The place is incredible, swimming in the reefs can be challenging on the left side of the bay to navigate, but it offers a delightful way to spend many hours, and if luck you will encounter sea turtle and sea lion, Mahalo for your effort regarding tickets and traveling to the bay.

You need to make a reservation in order to enter the park. If you arrive in a van or on a tour run by a third party. Be aware that you will have to wait until all of the reservations have been filled, which could take a few hours. If not, you will spend 2-4 hours waiting at the front door.
