Blizzard Entertainment has announced the new patch for WOW WoTLK Classic Gold called Eternity's End. This is the first major update to the story on the title since patch 9.1 that was released on June 29 , 2022. This month the game's creator released patch 9.1.5. which was a minor update featuring quality of life improvements. It also added famous features such as The Mage Tower challenges. Releases of new content for the game have been held back over the past few months due to the pending Activision Blizzard lawsuit and subsequent aftermath. With the announcement of the patch's new version, Blizzard is likely hoping to boost interest in World of Warcraft, which is facing stiff competition from the success of MMORPGs like Final Fantasy XIV.

The WoW's latest story update, Chains of Domination, ended at a cliff-hanger when the champions of Azeroth could not take on one of the main antagonists of the expansion, The Jailer. With victory in sight The Jailer's villain made his way through some unknown portal towards the close of the final fight, leaving Sylvanas Windrunner at the mercy of the Azeroth champions. However, prior to leaving the portal, he gave her soul shards, prompting fans to speculate about Sylvanas' possible redemption. It was also the final raid content added to this game. It left avid players with little to do during the past few months.

Today in a developer's preview, posted on the World of Warcraft YouTube channel, Blizzard Entertainment revealed the next major update to this expansion called Eternity's Endeavor. According to an article to the World of Warcraft website, it picks up in the aftermath of those events in patch 9.1 as champions fight The Jailer into the primordial and mystical world of the First Ones. Zereth Mortis is an ethereal world created by the progenior race that shaped the cosmos to be used as their workshop. It is where players will meet an ancient race of automata who serve as guardians over the universe and a long-lost group of the familiar Brokers. The dungeon that is the raid Sepulcher that is part of The First Ones will also come as part of the update. The players will face with the corrupted prince Anduin Wrynn, as well as The Jailer himself. This is why many are wondering if this will lead the story of the expansion to an end.

The preview also detailed some extra features being added with the update. The most notable is the return of set of tiered armor that is specific to a particular class. While they're not entirely new, they were scrapped during the Battle for Azeroth expansion in preference to sets that were separated by type of armor. Season 3 for each of the World of Warcraft PvP and Mythicplus dungeons will begin alongside an exciting new quest.
