For those unaware, in Diablo 2 you would hire followers to go through Hell's gates alongside you, but once the followers were killed, you needed to bring them back with cold, hard cash. A new follower appeared in each zone, which meant some D2R Items were absolutely better than other followers.
This was a change in Diablo 3, where instead of employing mercenaries you gained three companions in the story's adventure. There was the Scoundrel Sorceress, and Templar, which represented the range of DPS tank, ranged DPS, as well as magic players respectively.In the course of my Diablo 2 Resurrected adventure I only encountered helpful NPCs who stuck around for a few dungeons before vanishing into the sunset. I really enjoyed the vast range of different abilities followers offered when they played Diablo 2 and would love to see this innovated upon. This opens up even more possibilities for various types of builds, as well as amazing demon-slaying ability chains.
In the meantime you might want to study the classes in Diablo 2 Resurrected, since they're the ones we'll be playing as mostly.
