Several hospitals in the United Kingdom, including South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust, have implemented the Alcidion Miya Precision real-time patient monitoring system. Both hospitals are located in the East of the country. The system was developed in collaboration with Alcidion, Inc., a technology company.

Along with improving patient safety, the new system also makes the implementation of efficiencies more straightforward, which will aid in the streamlining of patients' hospitalizations. They have decided to integrate their information technology systems with their electronic portable patient monitor record systems (EPRs) in order to streamline the implementation process and expedite it as quickly as possible.

There have already been several Miya's Observations and Assessments modules implemented, with the South Tees and Dartford modules being the first to be put into action. Important to note is that one of the most important components of this module is an early warning system, which sends critical information to the appropriate parties immediately after it has been recorded, allowing for the implementation of faster response times. Because the efforts of medical professionals can be directed toward patients who require immediate attention, the length of time that they must be admitted to a hospital may be cut in half, or even reduced entirely.

Also installed at the hospital is a computer that runs a software program known as Miya Flow, which provides clinical staff with real-time information about the status of patients' monitoring equipment. The trust expects to implement Alcidion's clinical notation, discharge notes, e-prescription, and clinical decision support systems over the course of the next several months, according to the company.

According to Andrew Adair, Chief Clinical Information Officer at South Tees Hospitals, the implementation of Miya Observations is only the beginning of a clinically responsive transformation program that will digitize paper processes throughout the trust, connect systems throughout the trust, and lay the groundwork for regional integration, among other things.

According to Neil Perry, chief information officer of the Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust, the Alcidion solution will determine whether or not the trust's digital strategy will be successful in the long run. According to us, the Miya Precision approach will be the most effective method of achieving a high level of digital maturity in the shortest amount of time. The ability to go beyond the conventional electronic patient record (EPR), to assist our clinicians, and to improve the efficiency and safety of the care we provide to patients who are under our direct supervision and oversight is a significant advantage for us.

Our journey boards, which track our patients' progress through the hospital, ensure that each and every one of our patients has an estimated date of discharge recorded for them. This ensures that they are all discharged on time. Wards have been able to meet their targets in order to meet their discharge dates, which has assisted in alleviating the tremendous amount of pressure that we are currently under.

It is intended that Dartford Hospital expand its use of Miya Flow as a command center in order to alleviate the effects of winter pressures on the facility. In addition, etco2 patient monitor will provide complete visibility of the bed and patient status, which will reduce the impact of winter pressures on the hospital. The Board of Directors also approved a contract with Alcidion for the replacement of the diabetes service's legacy system with the Miya Precision system. According to the department, the system will be put into place within the next couple of weeks. It will be integrated with this system as part of the Dartford Hospital's expanding personal health record system, which is being developed in partnership with Patients Know Best. As part of the expansion project, the system will be integrated with the existing system. The facility will also house outpatient services, which will be added in the near future.

An interview with Alcidion's management director, Lynette Ousby, revealed the company's mission: to assist nurses and doctors in doing the right thing for patients in difficult circumstances. This is particularly important at a time when nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals are working under extremely difficult conditions. Her explanation was that they should be able to do the right thing with the least amount of difficulty as they possibly could. Every item on this list exemplifies how effective technology can be in assisting the service in meeting those needs, particularly during times of high demand, such as the upcoming winter months.
