You're probably losing out on sales conversions.

BIG TIME. Wanna know why? ?

Hey, it's Will here.

Have you ever wondered why some business seem to be able to hook, reel in, and then convert their audiences like they're Mark Davis catching bass while others are just ....

Tossing their line and hoping someone bites?

The second group basically relies on hope because they don't have a clear strategy. They're throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping something sticks.

In contrast, the first group has a written strategy (usually well documented) because they know that websites, which have a blog attract 55% more traffic. (Quick Sprout)

But, just having a blog doesn't ensure traffic or conversions either.

You know how many companies update their blogs only a few times per year? Not talking about business per se, but the New York Times even reported that around 95% of blogs get abandoned altogether!

Why?

Because putting out content can be hard to do consistently.

The rewards are worth it though since Content marketing is 3x more cost effective at lead generation than paid search (Content Marketing Institute).

Something to think about!

Hey there,

Just thought I'd let you know about a really nice, small thing that happened yesterday.

One of the companies I work with wrote me this great letter and complimented me several times within it.

Of course, yours truly being the sucker for flattery that I am, asked if I could just take a bit of that company's sugary sweetness and share it you.

I got the "yes" right off the bat without having to beg or cajole and with a huge smile from the lovely editor that was singing my praises.

"Will did a great job at writing conversationally, but authoritatively, which is a great match for our sites." - Amanda Lien, Editor, The Angle

There ya go.

Nothing too fancy. Nothing too wild.

But all that's to say that when a company needs content written in THEIR tone of voice and in the STYLE that speaks to THEIR audience ...

I rock it, baby.

Plus, it was delightful working with them because they know the power and the many benefits of content marketing.

Anyway!

Just thought I'd share that nice little something with you today.

Hope you're enjoying your Sunday!

- Will

P.S.

If you don't know why I'm always shouting about how awesome content marketing is for entrepreneurs, established businesses, coaches, consultants, and anybody who wants to be a thought leader ...

5 Reasons Content Marketing is Vital to Your Marketing Efforts | by Will Blesch | Mar, 2021 | Medium

I own a content marketing agency, so I feel I’m (a bit) qualified to provide a good answer. How great of an answer? I know all that because content marketing is a huge part of my own marketing…

The one and only tool in your tool bag you need to get 434% MORE pages indexed and ranked by Google ...

So, yesterday I wrote you about a company that was able to spike their blog's relevant traffic by 3.5 times and that gained 434% MORE pages indexed and ranked by Google.

Remember that?

If you don't, go check out my last missive.

Anyway, the secret to their success actually isn't so secret or mysterious. In fact, it boils down to about four things.

1. Create a lot more content

2. Create that content faster and more consistently

3. Ensure the content is optimized for search engines (if you're writing blog posts or Web content)

4. Ensure the content you create is distributed well beyond your own Web assets

You might think, "Well crap ... I don't have time to create MORE content. I can barely keep up with what I'm putting out right now!"

However, did I say anywhere that YOU need to be the one creating that content? Did I say your in-house writer has to bend over backwards and twist into a pretzel to produce what you ACTUALLY ought to be producing?

No.

No I did not.

The company mentioned above didn't go from having a 500 word blog posted once a week to having 2,000 word posts (that Google loves) posted TWICE a week by doing everything themselves.

That much, I can tell you.

So here's the deal, if you didn't read that company's case study yesterday, here's the link.

Go check it out.

Let me know what you think.

P.S.

If you're still holding on to the limiting mindset that only certain types of marketing work, or that only specific types work for YOU (you special snowflake, you) ... then you should probably pass on reading that case study.

"Why should I invest in content marketing, Will?"

Here's what I answered ...

There's this business owner I know who has a truly limiting mindset. Everything is all word of mouth and abso-frigging-lutely nothing else.

No other marketing will do. No other kind of marketing exists. Because ... "it doesn't work."

Has this guy ever researched the subject?

No.

But he believes word of mouth is the only answer to his marketing problems anyway.

I politely told him he was crazy because there's tons of proof other kinds of marketing work, and some are totally worth investing in.

That's when he asked me the question above.

I was like ...

Let me introduce you to a company that was able to spike their blog's relevant traffic by 3.5 times and that gained 434% MORE pages indexed and ranked by Google.

They didn't really buy into content marketing before either.

But they put aside their skepticism because they knew that you can't say something NEVER works unless you've tried it.

Plus, they're all about testing.

They bought in when they finally realized that evergreen content, which people search for, has a huge potential to rank on Google over time.

... Anyway, here's a link to their case study if you're interested.

Ciao for now, everyone!

? ? ? Why it sounds like I have contempt for C-Level Execs

Because here's why yo ...

They get hair brained content marketing ideas that they think be cool bro, and they're sure they'll resonate and speak to Millennials and maybe even Gen-Z.

Sometimes even when these C-Levels be and am are known as Millennials they own selves. You jive?

Just check out this New York public service announcement with Paul Rudd ... like, I literally can't even ....

It's so bad.

Do THIS kind of content without understanding your audience AT ALL ...

And you just need to get the FOH.

Instead, you could maybe talk to some people who actually know WTF they're doing.

Over here: https://www.verticalcontent.net

Check that out and get in touch. You know, if you don't want to come off as a preachy, condescending, douche. (We're talking to you Cuomo. It's literally science.)
