FaceBook has proposed a new cryptocurrency along the lines of Bitcoin, except one which they manage and control across their some three billion users. They have named this currency Libra.
Now here is something interesting.
In the book of Revelation, there is a passage in the sixth chapter that states the following:
(5) When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. (6) Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages, and six pounds of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!”
This is part of a series of judgments against the world approaching the final days. The essence of this passage indicates that the world's economy is in shambles, where the basic commodities of life are too expensive for most people to afford, but the luxuries available to the rich are abundant and fairly priced. It is one of the few passages in the Bible that directly addresses the economy.
What is most interesting is the description of the rider of the black horse. He is holding a set of scales, scales being used to measure out purchases. So where do we know of scales?
How about the constellation Libra -- the astrological sign of the scale.
Interesting that the name of their cryptocurrency is also named Libra.
They could have named that currency anything they wanted, yet they chose Libra.
